Hi, my name is Sheila Elliott and welcome to my blog site. I am so excited you visited this site and I am looking forward to knowing you better as you share your thoughts on my blog posts and articles.

I remembered what John Maxwell said in one of his leadership seminars I attended; he said that the difference between a “PRO” and the rest of the masses is not much. If only we can just stop and learn from others who know how to do what we are struggling with and compensate them for transferring their invaluable knowledge and skills to us, we will be surprised at the amount of change we will make.
In business, you are going to be prepared to develop your character, attitude and know-how. Most importantly, you are going to need to be inspired to act. However, action does not guarantee success if what you are doing is not adding any value to you or your business. Remember the old saying “If you do what you always do, you will get what you’ve always got”.
So, let me ask you some serious questions now:
1. If you have not already started you own business, what is stopping you?
2. If you have been talking about starting a business but seem to have gotten nowhere with it, what is stopping you?
3. If you have started your own business, what progress have you made to date?
4. If you have not been making progress, do you know why this is happening or have you settled for nebulous excuses such as my husband will not permit me to start, my wife is not supportive of my business, I have no money to expand, people will not buy from me because of my colour and …………………….. the list continues. Think about these questions.
You see, I have worked with hundreds of businesses; I have worked with women in businesses, black women in business, black men in business of all shapes and sizes. I have seen women and black business owners that are successful and those that are struggling.
The latter sadly is significant. The common traits, of those who are successful, run across all the successful businesses regardless of gender, race and location. I will let you into a secret; those who are making progress invest in getting the best advice and implementing them with the support of their consultants, mentors or coaches.
Those who are making no progress or just minimal progress are always looking for something for nothing. The laggard do not wish to invest in themselves and are therefore below the threshold of where they ought to be. YOU SEE IT IS ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE.
Whether you have NO money in your purse today or just FEW PENNIES in your purse, you can learn how to identify all your assets and start making money from them today. The trick is this, YOU must be willing to learn and pay your dues. If you are not willing to do this, you have very little chance of succeeding in the business world or anywhere else. Zig Ziglar puts it like this, if you are unwilling to take step one, you will be unwilling to take step two.
